dawn’s faint hour
squeezes in heart-run veins
light in every limb

arriving breathlessly
tomorrow’s promises

morning light
the sound of waves
on your sleeping face

there is a hopefulness
among the darkest hours

light comes and goes
as ocean

during the darkest hours
there’s increased restlessness

a range of light
morning colors flow
out of the high Sierras

yesterday’s firey remnants
cacophony of colors

light touching
where only rain goes

feinted of direction
the dim light of the stars

without lights
the brightness of a blue sky
full of stars

in the absence of reason
blackness of anger and rage
