ANCIENT TIMES

flood waters
stars too will go to sleep
on top of a rock

rivulets always in motion
silver river streams into sea

still summer
the harvest moon too hot
to enjoy the coolness

under cherry blossom shade
the butterflies are dreaming

morning glories
in the daytime a lock lowered
on the gate

a veil of shimmering white
conceals another new world

chrysanthemum flowers
bloom at the stonemason’s
between stones

colorful leaves of promise
linger with springlike newness

warriors
the bitterness of pickles
in the talk

tongue-tied fools are wasting time
riddled with anxieties

plum blossom scent
since ancient times the word
has been sorrowful

though they have taken their time
the plum tree always blossoms

INDIAN SUMMER

after a warm day
a thin layer of fresh fallen snow
covers the garden

Indian Summer
inbetween seasons
roses bloom again

early winter rain

summer grass
amorous crickets sing
summer sonata

covered with autumn leaves
caught in the meadow
the cool summer breeze

mark the hours of sorrow
here on Earth

ruby jewels
bloom under the night sky
flowered fireworks

dancing flame licking night air
watch summer firework
pulsate with life

in a field of green
among tall warm grass

in the early dawn
sunny-illumined blossoms
the stars of night shine

in the early dawn
multitude of suns
bursting with dazzling color

sunny-illumined blossoms
fiery blooms of yesterday
bursting with new life

the stars of night shine
a thousand candles
dotting the green meadow

STARRY NIGHTS

galaxies of dust
illuminate the darkness
whitish-gray ashes
discarded white pearls in snow
fragments of life found
a source of constant beauty
these summer dancers
fallen dried cherry blossoms

white cherry blossoms
bursting with dazzling color
to nearness of death
the way the stars at night shine
floats into my opened hands

DEPTH OF A FLOWER

windy weather
calling the flowers by name
each nods

depth of a flower
flying away with the bee
some mystery

summer swarm
clouded in mystery
drifts from flower to flower

summer swarm
voyagers in golden field
darting to and fro

clouded in mystery
gold(en) buzzing caravan
in a green field

drifts from flower to flower
summer collective
singing so sweetly
