WHITE VALLEY CLOUDS

after the rain
breathing deeply
white valley clouds

after the rain
on the grass –
rainbow droplets

breathing deeply
the smell of wildflowers
as they begin to wither

white valley clouds
meet in a kiss
with blatant blue sky

SEA CLIFFS

coming to sea cliffs
the off-shore breeze raises
a flower fragrance

curving with the land
a rainbow of clouds
moves out to sea

in the space
appears frivolous
a rainbow of hope

between sky and sea
in a mist of floating clouds
white blossoms

a hint of color(s)
float through skies above –
a painter’s palette

UNEXPECTED GUESTS

gathering flowers
unexpected guests
come to dinner

© Jane Reichhold (taken from “A Dictionary of Haiku”)

gathering flowers
sparkling jewels of the night
drenched with fresh dewdrops

unexpected guests
recount early memories –
days of yesteryear

come to dinner
listen to them –
the nightingales sing

SUN-DRIED GRASS

evening sea fog
descending into sun-dried grass
sweaty lovers

we shall not lie side by side
I shall sit here by myself

how much I mourn her
that lithe and sensuous frame –
distributed in dust

beyond this physical world
transformed into cosmic dust
