53 AND COUNTING

First, let me say dear reader(s), i do Not hate snakes, but i am Not their number one fan, either. i can stand their swift and sometimes unsettling presence in movies and sly appearance in literature. Now with this stated, let me also say, dear reader(s), from a beautiful long and i do mean long, long distance, snakes can be awesomely inspiring. So now for my near-miss daily walking experience, enjoy these Haiku.

Topic of Haiku – (Garter) Snakes and Summer Grass

blade of grass
the rise and fall
of slithering garter

blade of grass —
it rises up
inquisitive garter

blades of grass
rising and falling
slithering garters

startled snake
in a straight line
blade of grass A

slithering garter
becomes amazingly straight
blade of grass B

tall blades —
bouncing and falling
garter snakes

*Garter snakes are a common species found here in Michigan, USA.

Topic of Haiku – Dandelions & Sunshine

sinking sun
when the dandelion rises
amazingly straight

dandelions—
still some stars remain
grounded

late dandelions
the sunlight reaches
one after another

winter dandelions
standing askew
shining, shining

hot sunrise
May dandelion
upright in a breeze

rising sun
through blades of grass
blooming dandelion

starry night
dandelions bend at an angle
wherever they bloom

plucked dandelions
the light of stars
starts waning

dandelions
so many stars fallen
from the sky

April Work Observations

Oh, the poetic things and creative epic events one can observe while working 12 hours or more during a busy weekend shift. As a reflection of my weekly work schedule, lets say that time truly is but a blur when the world about you is rushing by in serving foods, packaging foods and finally, consuming foods to oneself and to others, obviously. 😉

gazing at
a lump of cooked rice
full moon

snowball
a lump of cooked rice
in a baby’s hands

snowflakes
a split bag of rice
spills over

full moon—
white dinner plates
being piled up

moon viewing—
boiled rice rises
then slips down

dinner plates
being piled up…
moonrise

full moon I pour a cup of milk

full moon to eat a boiled egg

winter moon
the slow close
of a scrapped poem

falling snow ―
desert horses
charge down the riverbank

7 am
late winter’s snow
on the rooftops

unexpected snow…
scrapped poems
rearrange themselves

Topic of Haiku – Writing Poems

writing, writing, writing
it’s like watching
soaring kites

manuscripts—
making snowballs
then letting them fly

paper balloons
I know they wont keep
scrapped poems

spring snowflakes—
if I could catch them
tossed poems

snowflakes
with spring warmth—
tossed poems

cloudless sky
when scrapped poems fall
from my hand

spring clouds
scrapped poems
start to crumble

snowballs—
tossed poems
being piled up

grass buds shooting up—
colder than snow
April Fool’s Day

there are roses
where snow falls
April Fool’s Day

blooming tulips
the sighting of raging flames—
April Fool’s Day

snow falls
it falls rather than
raindrops
April Fool’s Day

April blizzard—
days without
reading or writing Haiku

night snow
on the ground
April Fool’s Day

April snow—
the colors of spring
change suddenly
