BEAUTIFUL WAVES

dreamy sailor
lulled by the sound of the waves
from hospital bed

haiku

up towards blue skies
ocean waves angrily slapping shore
crashing against black rocks

haiku

in blustery conditions
zephyrs carry ocean scents
and siren’s sorrowful song

PICKING FLOWERS IN THE RAIN

wine cup
don’t drop in any dirt
village swallows

meticulous architects
gather supplies for their nest

more reassuring
than in a dream
the real hawk

burnished relics discovered
floating down silver river

wearing a paper robe
even if it gets wet
picking flowers in the rain

amid torrential downpours –
budding rainbow symphony

now farewell
for snow viewing we’ll fall down
until we get there

white delicate confetti
falls down upon my shoulders

go naked
one needs to wear more clothes
in February’s storm **

beneath thread-barren cotton
good-intentioned activists

frozen dew
a dry brush draws
clear water *

painting porcelain picture –
blue butterfly in white skies

VIGILANCE

vigilance

bright fall day
the brook wanders off
its shimmer lingers

serpentine rivers dribble
feeding dark-withering roots

as if nothing happened
the crow there
the willow here

playful light and shadows chase
in a game of hide-and-seek

rusty toy truck
stuck on the mudbank
a cargo of blossoms

sitting alone in stillness
childhood fragrant memories

evening walk
the creak of my boots
invades the stars

resounding into the night
the faint soundings of crickets

raking aside leaves
on the backyard pond
I release the moon

settled parliament eyeing
spiraling leafy dancers

full moon rising
nowhere on the empty beach
to hide our love

infinite promises churn
with the ever-changing tides

CROSSROADS CRYSTAL BROOK

crystal brook
reflects the willow trees
birds sing their song

sweet perfume
memories of a loved one
Jasmine blossom

© Yozakura

the scent of jasmine
spirals downward
into soft heaps

the scent of jasmine
dissipates
mingling with valley fog

spirals downward
ten thousand green leaves –
formless words falling

into soft heaps
fallen dreams
in full bloom
