UNLAWFULLY DETAINED

incarcerated
within icy confinements –
spring’s cherry blossoms

frozen detainees
dribble colorful verses
from branch to branch

COLORS OF THE WIND

winter dawn
sounds of blowing snow
sleeping birds

in the breath of a new day
dawn’s pale light filtering through

frost sharp air
cut into pieces by sunshine
sparkling on snow

among frosted rotting leaves
cacophony of colors

spots of blue
varying the light to fit
tracks in the snow

spinning blue kaleidoscope
revealing fainting footprints

ocean sunset
staying by the window
’till the color sinks

piercing rippling shining waves
orange-gold and bright pink rays

cold winds
rounding snow-capped peaks
a full moon

zephyrs carry ocean scents
across mountains and valleys

before one star
beams from the lighthouse
search the sky

guiding light through stormy seas
bright flame lures through foggy grey

TROIKU HINERI: APPLE BLOSSOMS

light carried in my arms
apple blossoms from a neighbor
on my doorstep

from here to there
cherry blossom lanterns
guiding me home

from here to there
fallen buds create collage
painting portrait

cherry blossoms lanterns
weary from flight –
found abandoned

guiding me home
these lost spring remnants
in winter field

clusters talking
together in admiration
apple blossoms

spied from afar
fallen color palette –
marooned apples

spied from afar
colorful motley crew
in the orchard

fallen color palette –
these pink paint chips
embraced by wind

marooned apples
decaying over time
indicate change

sun transformed
into apple blossoms
the ground is level

early morning
fresh sprouts of greenery
rise from damp earth

early morning
seen before my window
blossoming buds

fresh sprouts of greenery
bloom into tomorrow
without hesitation

rise from damp earth
rising impatient buds –
heady scents haunt

the dam is broken
spring cascades into valleys
as apple blossom

in wintry air
in the midst of a storm
falling pink snow

in wintry air
pink-white apple blossoms –
floral fireworks

in the midst of a storm
fragrant shower –
blossom raindrops

falling pink snow
a soft breeze carrying
sweet memories

atop barren tree
a crow against winter’s branch
this snowy morning

lands on winter branch
this morning

a black crow plucking
white blossoms

in its beak
glistens under moon
